Chevening Scholarships are the UK government's global scholarship programme, funded by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) and partner organisations. The scholarships are awarded to outstanding international scholars with leadership potential. Awards are typically for a one year Master’s degree at universities across the UK.

To apply for this scholarship you must;
i. Be a citizen of a Chevening-eligible country

ii. Return to your country of citizenship for a minimum of two years after your award has ended
iii. Have completed all components of an undergraduate degree that will enable you to gain entry onto a postgraduate programme at a UK university by the time you submit your application. This is typically equivalent to an upper second-class 2:1 honours degree in the UK but may be different depending on your course and university choice
iv. Have at least two years (equivalent to 2,800 hours) of work experience
v. Apply to three different eligible UK university courses and have received an unconditional offer from one of these choices by 11 July 2025

To apply;
i. Applications must be submitted through the Chevening website. Please refer to the guidance on the website before applying, including the frequently asked questions. You should also refer to the country webpages on the Chevening website which contain guidance for applicants from your country, including priority subject areas.
ii. From mid-November to January, 2025, independent reading committees assess all eligible applications. Their scores and rankings are then passed back to local British embassies/high commissions.
iii. Once the embassy/high commission has reviewed the applications that were passed on to them, they produce a shortlist of those who they will invite to interview in mid February. Notifications will then follow. Find guidance notes for the interview sessions.
iv. On 19th Feb, 2025, shortlisted candidates will be requested to submit two references and their education documents prior to their interview date. Read about what is required from your references.
v. From 26 February to 25 April, 2025, candidates from all over the world will be interviewed by panels at British embassies and high commissions.
vi. After months of preparation and trepidation, the strongest candidates will experience jubilation when interview results are announced from early June onwards.
vii. The deadline to receive and submit at least one unconditional UK university offer is 17:00 BST (UK time) on 11 July 2025.
viii. September/October: 2025/2026 Chevening Scholars commence their studies in the UK, and enter into an international network that they’ll be a part of for the rest of their lives!
