2025 Florida International University First-Year Merit Scholarships (US Based)

Scholarship Deadline: 
Applications for this scholarship will end as follows;
i. Florida Residents: 1st of November, 2024 
ii. Out-of-state domestic students and international students: 3rd of December, 2024 

Scholarship Summary: 

FIU awards merit-based scholarships to admitted first-time-in-college (FTIC) (domestic and international) students. 

FIU will automatically consider students for these merit-based scholarships when they submit and complete the freshman admissions application. Please note that scholarship funding is limited.

Scholarship Applicant Criteria: 
To be eligible;
i. Student must be a citizen of the United States, a U.S. lawful permanent resident, or an international student to receive the F-1 visa to study in the United States (or another eligible visa). 

Consideration for merit awards is based on the same academic records used for admission and residency status. No additional applications are required.

Value of Scholarship: 
This First-Year Merit Scholarships are awarded as follows;
i. Gold and Blue Scholarships: are distributed over four years and range from;
  • $1,000 to $12,000 for Florida residents 
  • $4,000 to $24,000 for non-Florida residents 
ii. Non-Resident/Out-of-State Tuition Waiver
  • Waives the non-resident tuition portion.
Scholarship Application Guide: 
i. Students should submit a complete application for admission,
 including the application fee/waiver, and official SAT, ACT, or CLT test scores by the deadline dates for scholarship consideration.  

ii. Applicants must have their scores sent directly to FIU when they register for tests so the scores can be received by the university in time for admission for scholarship consideration.
