Scholarship Summary:
The Johnson Scholars comprehensive merit award is provided to first-year undergraduate students (domestic and international) who demonstrate the highest levels of academic ability, motivation and leadership potential in their application for freshman admission to Santa Clara University.
Scholarship Applicant Criteria:
Proof of the following characteristics is required to be considered;
i. Evidence of leadership and a spirit of tenacity
ii. Demonstrated record of high academic performance
iii. An unweighted cumulative GPA of 3.8 or higher
iv. A minimum SAT combined score of 1450 in the math and critical reading sections (if submitted)
v. Record of service throughout the high school career
Value of Scholarship:
This award covers up to full tuition, standard room & board, books & supplies. A summer stipend could be awarded upon application in sophomore/junior year.
*It's important to note that students will only be eligible for additional costs of attendance, such as standard room and board fees as well as book and other customary expenses upon the completion of required financial aid forms (FAFSA
and the CSS PROFILE).
Scholarship Application Guide:
The application process is as follows;
i. Candidates are to complete an admission application by Early Action or Early Decision I.
- Domestic students are required to fill the FAFSA and CSS to be eligible for additional costs of attendance, such as standard room and board fees as well as book and other customary expenses. International students should complete the CSS form only.
- All international applicants are required to complete a Financial Resources Statement proving the student or their family are able to cover the total cost of the first year attendance before their application will be considered for admission.
This form will be accessible through your application status portal only after you submit the Common Application. You will also need to upload supporting documents to demonstrate proof of funds claimed on the form at the time of form submission.
ii. SCU applicants who are admitted in the Early Action and Early Decision I rounds will be eligible to apply to the University Honors Program through their Admissions Portal
iii. After completing the Honors application, Johnson Scholars Finalists will be selected out of the EA and EDI University Honors Program applicant pool.
iv. Those selected as JSP finalists will be invited to a virtual Selection Day in Mid- March, 2025.
v. From among the finalists, 5 Johnson Scholars will be selected and notified shortly thereafter.
