Applications for this scholarship will end as follows;

Scholarship Summary:
The Flagship Scholars Program provides admissions-based scholarships to high-achieving out-of-state domestic (Maine non-residents) and international students. With a special emphasis on a student’s high school GPA and the rigor of coursework completed, a range of scholarship amounts are awarded at the time of admission. No additional application is required to be considered for admissions-based scholarships.

The following are criteria for consideration;
Value of Scholarship:
i. Based on academic performance in high school, including GPA and rigor of coursework.
ii. Applicants must have a minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA in order to qualify for admissions-based scholarships.
iii. Standardized test scores, such as the SAT and ACT, are optional for admissions and may be considered if they are available at the time of the scholarship review.
Value of Scholarship:
The Flagship Out-of-State Scholarships are valued as follows;
i. UMaine National Merit Award: 100% tuition and fees up to 15 credits per semester (Eligibility Criteria: Semi-finalist with the National Merit Scholarship Corporation)

ii. Flagship Match ranges in value from $14,133 - $19,386
iii. Flagship Leader ranges in value from $9,000 - $12,000
iv. Early Action Award provides an additional amount to the above scholarships, ranging from $3,000 - $5,000 (Applicants must apply by Dec 1st to be considered for this scholarship)
Scholarship amount is determined at the time of admission and will remain fixed throughout the student’s undergraduate career, provided the student meets renewal eligibility requirements.

Although filing a FAFSA is not required to receive merit-based scholarships at the time of admissions. First-year students are highly encouraged to file a FAFSA by March 1 in order to be considered for the maximum amount of financial aid funds.
