Scholarship Summary:
The Richmond Scholars Program is the University's most prestigious academic awards, offered to exceptional incoming students (domestic and international) with outstanding academic achievements.
Scholarship Applicant Criteria:
Richmond Scholars will be selected based on four main criteria;
i. Academic Achievement
ii. Engaged Leadership
iii. Strong Sense of Purpose
iv. Interest in Diverse and Inclusive Community
Richmond Scholars usually represent the top 1% of the applicant pool and approximately 25 awards are offered each year.
Up to four Richmond Scholar selections will be awarded to students planning to major or minor in the Arts. Please follow the Admission requirements for students interested in the Arts. In order to be considered for the Richmond Scholars program, all Arts submissions must be uploaded via the applicant’s Spider Portal by December 1.
Value of Scholarship:
The Richmond Scholars Program includes these benefits;
i. Full-tuition, housing, and food scholarship, renewable for up to eight consecutive semesters of full-time enrollment
ii. Eligibility for a one-time $4,000 grant to support a student-selected activity that enhances the academic experience
iii. Priority course registration and guaranteed on-campus housing
iv. Specially selected faculty mentors to guide students and help them fulfill their potential
v. Special ticket vouchers to selected cultural events in the Modlin Center for the Arts
vi. Academic, social, and professional programming designed to build community within and between Richmond Scholar cohorts.
vii. Office of Scholars and Fellowships staff dedicated to advising and supporting scholars and connecting them to campus resources
Scholarship Application Guide:
To apply for the Richmond Scholars program, all interested students must;
i. Submit a complete admission application by December 1.
ii. The final test dates accepted for Richmond Scholars consideration are the October ACT and November SAT administrations.
iii. Students who are selected to advance to the finalist round will be notified of their status in the Spider Portal by February 1; those students whose applications do not advance to the finalist round will not be notified. Please note that an email to access the Spider Portal is typically received the day after submitting an application. An announcement will be posted on https://scholars.richmond.edu once all finalist notifications have been sent.

iv. Finalists will be invited to interview with a faculty selection committee via Skype in mid-February. Final selection of Richmond Scholars will be completed by March 1.
