Scholarship Summary:
Every domestic and international freshman student who applies for admission into Mount Saint Mary’s University (a women’s university) will be automatically considered for merit awards.
Scholarship Applicant Criteria:
There are no set criteria for eligibility but past recipients represent the top academically talented students of the applicant pool.
Value of Scholarship:
The MSMU Merit awards are valued as follows;
i. Le Puy Founder’s Award – Full Tuition annually {recognizes the highest levels of academic achievement and applicants' service in the spirit of our founding Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet}
ii. President’s Award: $21,500 - $23,500 per year (3.82+ GPA)
iii. Carondelet Award: $20,500 per year (3.60-3.81 GPA)
iv. Regents Award: $19,500 per year (3.20-3.59 GPA)
v. Opportunity Award: $17,000 per year (<3.19 GPA)
vi. Dean's International Student Award: $20,500 per year (for international students)

Application for the Le Puy Founder’s Award
i. First-year applicants must submit and complete their application by the Early Action deadline - December 1.
- On the application, candidates must select that they are interested in being considering for this scholarship.
ii. In addition to a completed application for admission, candidates must submit an additional essay (prompt to be provided upon applying and below);
- Le Puy Scholarship Essay Prompt: The Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet, established in Le Puy, France in 1650, fostered leadership and service to their societies. These traditions are emulated in the teachings of Mount Saint Mary's University today. Please respond in 500 words or less: In what ways have you displayed leadership and/or made valuable contributions to your community? Explain how this involvement can equip you to make a meaningful impact at Mount Saint Mary’s University and align with the vision of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet
iii. In January, finalists will be selected to participate in an interview day, as the selection of the Scholars includes an interview with a Mount Saint Mary’s University selection committee made up of faculty, staff and alumnae.
iv. Scholarship winners will be announced soon after the interview day.
