Scholarship Summary: 
The Cheatham-White Scholarship provides an outstanding educational experience for domestic freshmen students who are exceptional scholars, as well as versatile and well-rounded individuals. Cheatham-White Scholarships will be awarded to students with a broad range of interests, proficient in areas of both the arts and sciences, who demonstrate leadership potential and a strong commitment to service.

Scholarship Applicant Criteria: 
To be eligible for selection as a Cheatham-White Scholar, an applicant must satisfy all of the following criteria:
i. Be admitted as a first year freshman for the fall semester in pursuit of a baccalaureate program at North Carolina A&T.
ii. Be a United States citizen or permanent resident.
iii. Be on course to graduate from high school in the spring semester prior to college admission.
iv. Minimum 4.0 or higher weighted cumulative GPA.
v. Minimum scholastic test score of 1280 SAT or 28 ACT.
vi. Show exceptional qualities of character and leadership.
vii. Be significantly involved in extracurricular activities.
viii. Demonstrate a strong commitment to service.

*Candidates for Cheatham-White Scholarships shall be selected on the basis of merit, with all of the above criteria taken into account. Financial need shall not be a consideration.

Value of Scholarship: 
Each recipient will be awarded a fully-funded four-year scholarship that covers the costs of all of the following: tuition, student fees, housing, meals, textbooks, a laptop computer, supplies, travel and personal expenses. Each scholarship also provides four summers of fully funded enrichment and networking opportunities that may include international travel and study.

Step 1: Complete the Undergraduate Admissions Application

Step 2: 
Applicants should then submit their application through the Honors Program Application Portal by November 15, 2024 and prepare the following items to be included:
  1. Name and email address of high school official (if submitting school endorsement).
  2. Name and email address of two recommenders (academic, service, or leadership source).
  3. Copy of high school transcript in pdf
  4. Two essays (prompts provided within the application)
  5. List of extracurricular activities
  6. Pre-recorded video interview
Step 3: For consideration of the Cheatham-White Scholarship, a student must be nominated by a high school official or self-nominate. 

School Endorsed Nomination: Applicants must first register an account through the Honors Program Portal. Within the application, applicants will have the option to select the school endorsed option and list the counselor name and email address. Upon initiating the request, the counselor will receive a separate notification to submit their nomination.

Step 4: Selected semi-finalists will be contacted in mid-December and the finalists will be invited in late January to participate in the Honors Weekend and Finalist Interview to be held on February 28-March 1, 2025.

Step 5: All finalists will be notified of their recipient status by mid-March 2025.

Please note: Only one Honors application is necessary to be considered for the DowdyFebruary One and Cheatham-White scholarships.
