Scholarship Summary:
The Schlumberger Faculty for the Future Program awards fellowships to women from developing nations for advanced research in STEM at leading research institutes abroad. The program’s long-term goal is to accelerate gender equality in STEM by generating conditions that result in more women pursuing scientific careers through alleviating some of the barriers they encounter when enrolling in STEM disciplines. The program is committed to gender parity in science in the interests of sustainable development and recognizes that full access to and participation in a STEM curriculum is essential for the empowerment of women and girls.

Scholarship Applicant Criteria:
You are eligible only if you meet all of the following criteria:
i. You are a female citizen of a developing country or emerging economy. You are not eligible if you hold dual citizenship of which one is citizenship of a developed country. (Note: If you have been awarded a grant and then obtain citizenship of a developed country, the grant will be discontinued as of the date of such additional citizenship)
You are eligible only if you meet all of the following criteria:
i. You are a female citizen of a developing country or emerging economy. You are not eligible if you hold dual citizenship of which one is citizenship of a developed country. (Note: If you have been awarded a grant and then obtain citizenship of a developed country, the grant will be discontinued as of the date of such additional citizenship)
ii. You are preparing for PhD or postdoctoral studies in the physical sciences, engineering, and related disciplines; awards in biological sciences are limited to interdisciplinary research between physical and biological sciences (see this PDF for typical disciplines awarded)
iii. You are currently enrolled, have been admitted to, or have applied to a host university or research institute abroad; if you are applying for a “sandwich” PhD, it is essential that the final degree is awarded by the host university abroad, not from the home country university. All applicants are responsible for finding a host university and a host university supervisor themselves
iv. You have a proven track record of teaching experience
v. You hold an excellent academic record
vi. You can demonstrate active participation in faculty life and outreach programs to encourage young women to pursue studies in the sciences
vii. You are willing to contribute to the socio-economic development of your home country and region by strengthening the faculties in your home universities, pursuing relevant research, or using your scientific expertise to address public policy matters
viii. Applicants need to have an excellent knowledge of the language required to pursue their studies at top universities. Additionally, applicants need to have English language skills that are sufficient for an interview to be conducted in the English language
Value of Scholarship:
The Schlumberger Faculty for the Future grant covers the tuition fees and living expenses of the grant recipient and can be up to USD$50,000 per year for PhD courses and a maximum of USD$40,000 for post-doctoral research programs.

In addition, and at the discretion of the Schlumberger Foundation, an exceptional child care grant may be awarded (per eligible child) to a grantee when certain conditions are met.
