Scholarship Summary:
Texas State Competitive Scholarships are awarded to the strongest candidates (domestic and international) in the incoming applicant pool and require the submission of a Texas State scholarship application. All awards are based on the overall strength of your scholarship application.

Scholarship Applicant Criteria: 
To apply for this category of scholarship,
i. You must meet Assured Admission standards.
ii. You must be ranked in the top 25% of your high school class

Texas State will consider admitted freshmen without an SAT or ACT score. 

Value of Scholarship:
The Texas State Competitive Scholarships range in value from $2,000 - $29,900 annually. All scholarships are renewable for up to four years.

* If you are a non-resident receiving a Competitive Scholarship of at least $1,000 per year, you also qualify to pay the in-state tuition rate.

Scholarship Application Guide: 
To apply for competitive scholarships, you must:
i. Be admitted to Texas State
  • If your scholarship application meets initial eligibility criteria for the Terry Scholarship, you will be able to apply for it in BOSS once it is listed under your Recommended scholarships under the Opportunities tab.
ii. Complete the General and Freshman scholarship application in the Bobcat Online Scholarship System (BOSS).

iii. You will also be required to submit two letters of recommendation to Financial Aid and Scholarships; one of the letters must be from a high school teacher, advisor or principal. 

It’s important to note that not all competitive scholarships are open to international students, so be sure to review each scholarship eligibility criteria.
