Scholarship Summary:
The William & Mary Scholars Award is presented each year to a small group of academically distinguished domestic freshmen students who will add to the William & Mary's impactful community, representative of individuals with diverse backgrounds, talents, and experiences.
Scholarship Applicant Criteria:
Every applicant is eligible for the award, however, the majority of the recipients typically fall into one or more of the following categories:
(1) A first-generation college student;
(2) Demonstrated experience and interest in bridging differences and embracing diverse people and perspectives;
(3) Outstanding academic achievement demonstrated through a challenging, college-preparatory curriculum that often places them among or near the top decile of students in their class.
(4) Consideration is also given for individual and school context, including adversity and challenges overcome.
Value of Scholarship:
Awards are worth the amount of in-state tuition and fees and are renewable each year as long as the recipient remains in good academic standing.
- Award preference for in-state students, with a handful of awards available to out-of-state students.
Eligibility is restricted to eight semesters of undergraduate study. Coverage is not available during summer.
