Scholarship Summary:
Each newly admitted Canadian student who just graduated from full-time studies at a secondary school and achieves an overall average of 80% (on 6 best grade 12 U/M courses) is guaranteed an Academic Excellence Scholarship. Applicants must be registered in a 100% course load in two semesters (fall/winter) in a first degree and pay fees to Laurentian University.
Scholarship Applicant Criteria:
To be eligible for consideration, applicants must;
i. Obtain a minimum admission average of 80%
For admission and award purposes, Laurentian University calculates admission averages based on the top six final marks from grade 12 or level 4 U/M courses, regardless of prerequisites for the intended program of study (except Midwifery).
Value of Scholarship:
The Laurentian Undergraduate Academic Excellence scholarships are valued as follows;
i. Admission Average of 95-100% (or 9.90 to 10.00 GPA): CAD$16,000 {CAD$4,000 in 1st year, renewable in subsequent years provided average is maintained}
ii. Admission Average of 90-94.9% (or 9.50 to 9.89 GPA): CAD$12,000 {CAD$3,000 in 1st year, renewable in subsequent years provided average is maintained}
iii. Admission Average of 85-89.9% (or 8.50 to 9.49 GPA): CAD$6,000 {CAD$1,500 in 1st year, renewable in subsequent years provided average is maintained}
iv. Admission Average of 80- 84.9% (or 7.50 to 8.49 GPA): CAD$4,000 {CAD$1,000 in 1st year, renewable in subsequent years provided average is maintained}
Eligibility for renewal will be based on full-time status in previous academic year (30 credits of which 24 credits must have been taken in the Fall/Winter term)
