Scholarship Summary:
The Promise Scholars program is a comprehensive initiative designed to reduce financial barriers and increase access to Queen’s for local, first-generation students (Canadian citizens and permanent residents). The program provides dedicated financial, academic, and career support to help students complete their degree. Five awards will be available each fall semester.
Scholarship Applicant Criteria:
Students must meet the following criteria:
i. Received admission to a Queen’s first-year undergraduate degree program
ii. Be a first-generation student (meaning parents or guardians have not obtained a college diploma or university degree)
iii. Family income is CAD$70,000 or less
iv. Be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident of Canada
v. Will graduate from an Ontario secondary school in:
- City of Kingston
- County of Frontenac
- County of Lennox and Addington
- County of Leeds and Grenville
Value of Scholarship:
Promise Scholars receive the following benefits;
i. Tuition and fees
ii. Books and supplies
iii. A residence room on campus and meal plan in year 1
iv. A living allowance for years 2, 3, and 4
v. Dedicated mentors and advisers
vi. Summer Employment: Promise Scholars will build additional career experience through paid summer employment opportunities after years 1, 2 and 3.
Scholarship Application Guide:
To apply;
1. Apply for admission to Queen’s University and be accepted by February 1, 2024
2. For 2024-2025, apply for a Queen’s Admission Bursary by February 15, 2024 (the 2024-25 Queen’s Admission Bursary application is now available on SOLUS for the upcoming academic year)
