Scholarship Summary:
The UVic renewable entrance scholarships are awarded to academically outstanding Canadian undergraduate students entering UVic; these scholarships are automatically renewed for four years, or the student's first undergraduate degree, whichever is the shorter period, provided the student meets the required renewal criteria.
Scholarship Applicant Criteria:
To be eligible for the online entrance/transfer scholarships, students must normally:
i. Be entering UVic directly from a Canadian secondary school, including international students who are completing a Canadian secondary diploma
ii. Be a Canadian citizen studying grade 12 outside of Canada
iii. Be a secondary school graduate – entering UVic within two years of graduation and have not attended another post secondary institution
iv. Have a 90% admission average or 32 IB points
v. Be entering UVic directly from a Canadian college or university
vi. Have a 7.5/9.0 (UVic scale) transfer average or an 8.0/9.0 Diploma transfer average
Value of Scholarship:
The UVic renewable entrance scholarships are valued as follows;
i. David Strong Entrance Scholarship – CAD$5,000 {One award available}
ii. Maurice William Summerhayes Memorial Scholarship – CAD$5,000 {Several awards available}
iii. Robert and Ellen Pierce Scholarship – CAD$5,000 {Two awards available}
iv. Arscott Family Fund Scholarship: CAD$7,500 {Variable number of awards}
These scholarships are automatically renewed for each year of the student’s full-time study until completion of a first degree or for a maximum of four years provided, a student must have completed a total of 12 or more academic units in two terms of study between May and April and maintained a grade point average of 7.00 or higher on the best 12 academic units.
Scholarship Application Guide:
To be automatically considered for a Renewable entrance scholarship based on admission average;
i. Current grade 12 students completing the BC curriculum MUST order transcripts through StudentTranscripts Services when they submit their university application through EducationPlannerBC. BC students must choose the default option which allows updates for one year.
ii. Current Grade 12 Canadian secondary students outside of BC, including international students completing a Canadian secondary school diploma and students who are an accelerated entry, MUST self-report their grade 12 marks between Feb 15th and March 15th.
