ii. Second Deadline: December 15, 2024 (Countries include El Salvador, Guatemala, Belize, and Mexico) (opens Nov 1st, 2024)
Scholarship Summary:
The Walton International Scholarship Program has been creating life-changing opportunities, championing faith and empowering young minds to initiate meaningful impact across Central America and Mexico. Each year, rigorous screening process are carried out in El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Belize and Mexico to identify the next class of students.
Scholarship Applicant Criteria:
To be eligible for consideration for the Walton International Scholarship Program, you must;
i. Be a citizen of the countries that are part of WISP {El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Belize and Mexico}
ii. Be between the ages of 17 and 21
iii. Be single and without children
iv. Have an average grade of 88% or higher in the last 3 years of study
v. Come from a low-income background
vi. Have proficiency in the English language (both oral and written)
Value of Scholarship:
The Walton International Scholarship covers the following;
i. Air ticket Fare from your country to the designated University when you start school. This also includes tickets to and from your home country during the summer vacations and, of course, a one-way ticket back home after graduation,
ii. Tuition, fees, room and board for the entire duration of your undergraduate study
iii. Required textbooks for your course
iv. Health Insurance Premium
v. A monthly stipend
To maintain the scholarship, you need to maintain a 2.5 cumulative GPA, attend classes regularly, and fulfill other program expectations.

To apply,
i. Complete the application form found here (scholarship guidelines).
- Make sure all required fields and documents are completed and uploaded before you submit your application.
ii. The WISP committee of each country will review completed applications and select eligible candidates to advance through the selection process.
iii. If selected, preliminary interviews will be conducted by the WISP committee. Finalists will be recommended for a final interview with the WISP Directors.
iv. For country-specific support, follow the WISP pages for each country on social media. The committee will reach out to you directly if needed.
All recipients must return back to their home country after graduation and spend at least four years working there before returning to the US.
