Scholarship Summary:
The UAL Home (UK) Postgraduate Scholarship provides a tuition fee waiver for a full-time or part-time taught master’s course at one of UAL’s Colleges. 180 UAL Home Postgraduate Scholarships are available through 2 routes, each with different eligibility criteria.
Scholarship Applicant Criteria:
Eligibility criteria for Route 1
To be eligible to apply, you must be:
- Assessed as a Home student for tuition fee purposes. EU and other non-UK nationals who qualify for the Home tuition fee status will also be eligible to apply; and
- Hold an offer to study a full-time or part-time taught master’s course at UAL. Your course must offer either a Grad Dip, M ARCH, MA, MBA, MFA, MRes or MSc qualification; and
- Be in receipt of means tested benefit at the time of application to include Universal Credit; or
- Have previously received student funding from UAL (excluding the UAL Equipment Fund) or your previous university, awarded on the basis of financial hardship; or
- Have previously been part of the UAL Widening Participation scheme; or
- Have previously been in care for more than 13 weeks (spanning your 16th birthday).
Eligibility criteria for Route 2
To be eligible to apply, you must be:
- Assessed as a Home student for tuition fee purposes. EU and other non-UK nationals who qualify for the Home tuition fee status will also be eligible to apply; and
- Hold an offer to study a full-time or part-time taught master’s course at UAL. Your course must offer either a Grad Dip, M ARCH, MA, MBA, MFA, MRes or MSc qualification; and
- You have achieved, or are predicted to achieve, an upper second-class honours degree or above. Recognised equivalents are also accepted. You will need to provide your transcripts as proof of your qualification. If you have have not yet received your results, you will need to provide evidence of your predicted grade as part of your application. When you receive your results, you will need to provide further evidence that you have achieved your predicted grade to be granted the award; and
- You must provide a satisfactory personal reference from an academic or professional referee. Your reference must be provided in English; and
- You must provide a personal statement which responds to the following questions (maximum 350 words per question):
- Describe your background and your academic experience.
- Describe how receiving a postgraduate scholarship would make a difference to you.
- Tell us how you intend to use the qualification you will be gaining to support your future plans.
- Confirm any other sources of funding you have, or have applied for, to meet the cost of your studies.
Value of Scholarship:
The UAL Home Postgraduate Scholarship is valued as a £7,000 tuition fee waiver.
Scholarship Application Guide:
i. Once you have received an offer to study at UAL, the ‘my funding’ page on your applicant portal will be updated from February onwards to include application forms for scholarships you may be eligible for.
ii. If you submit a scholarship application, you will be emailed after the deadline has passed to be told the outcome of your application.

Route 1
All applicants who meet the scholarship criteria and course entry requirements will be offered the scholarship.
Route 2
Scholarships are awarded by a UAL selection panel, who make their decision based on the evidence provided in your application.
