Scholarship Summary:
The UH Undergraduate Bursary scheme is designed to help financially disadvantaged UK students with the cost of going to University. The University will be able to identify whether you qualify from your university and student loans company application and will automatically put you forward to receive the funds.
Scholarship Applicant Criteria:
To be eligible for the bursary, you must:
i. be studying a full-time University of Hertfordshire undergraduate course delivered directly by the University or one of its Consortium colleges
ii. live in an area with a low level of progression to university. Check your postcode in the UH online eligibility tool
iii. have a household income of £25,000 or less as assessed by Student Finance England or other relevant awarding body. This will be calculated from your Student Loans Company account, so please ensure you, and where applicable your parent(s) or sponsor, consent to share so that UH can see this information
iv. be considered a ‘Home’ fee paying student as assessed by the University.
Value of Scholarship:
The UH Undergraduate Bursary is valued is £1,500 for the first year of your undergraduate programme only.
Your bursary will be given to you in three separate instalments of £500. For students starting in September, payment will typically be in November, February and April. For students starting in January, two payments will be typically made between February and July.
Scholarship Application Guide:
No, there is not a separate application process for this bursary. If you are eligible to receive the bursary, you will be contacted 6-8 weeks after the start of term to let you know.
In order to receive payment, you will need to provide your bank details via the secure online system – UH will send you a link to do this. Please ensure both you, and where applicable your parent(s) or sponsor, consent to share your information with the Student Loans Company.
