Scholarship Summary:
The Mitchell Scholars Program allows elite business freshmen students (US citizens and residents only) to develop to their full potential. Through faculty mentorship, scholars will pursue challenging programs while developing stewardship and civic responsibility. When completed, they will step into the world as exceptional candidates for the work force or graduate school.
Scholarship Applicant Criteria:
The following ate necessary qualifications for consideration;
i. Minimum 29 ACT super score (or comparable SAT scores);
ii. Minimum 3.5 high school grade-point average (as computed by the University of South Alabama);
iii. Business major;
Value of Scholarship:
The USA Mitchell Scholars Program provides a four-year $50,000 - $70,000 scholarship (depending on ACT score) that includes a laptop computer.
Other Enrichment Opportunities for Mitchell Scholars include;
A. Leadership and teamwork development activities.
B. All Scholars are assigned a professional mentor.
C. Scholars are invited to attend citizenship and leadership enrichment activities.
D. International immersion experiences are held annually.
E. A business internship or other experiential learning activity is required.
F. Scholars participate in service learning opportunities.
G. A one-time, $2,000 study abroad scholarship
Scholarship Application Guide:
To apply;
i. Complete an admissions application for the University of South Alabama, and submit it to the Office of Admissions with the $35 non-refundable processing fee.
ii. Students must indicate on the application that they wish to major in the Mitchell College of Business.
iii. Request your school counselor to mail an official copy of your high school transcript to the Office of Admissions.
iv. Request your official ACT or SAT results to be mailed to the Office of Admissions.
v. Selected applicants will be invited to participate in an interview (if selected for final consideration).
Students who meet the minimum qualification listed above and who have been admitted to the University by December 1 of the senior year of high school will be automatically considered for the Mitchell Scholarship Program.
