Scholarship Summary:
The Blackwell Scholarship was created to engage North Carolina freshmen students who are involved in leadership and citizenship activities in their high schools, and want to continue in these types of roles at Mars Hill University, as they support the mission of the University. Blackwell Scholars will be active members of the Mars Hill campus community, and engage in important events and projects on and off campus.
Scholarship Applicant Criteria:
To be eligible for consideration, applicants must;
i. Obtain a minimum 3.5 high school GPA
ii. Must be a North Carolina resident
iii. Demonstrate involvement in leadership and citizenship activities in their high schools, and want to continue in those types of roles at Mars Hill University.
Value of Scholarship:
The Blackwell Scholarship provides students an additional $3,000 merit scholarship on top of academic merit scholarships.
Scholarship Application Guide:
To apply;
i. Complete an application for admission into Mars Hill.
ii. Complete the Blackwell Scholarship application form found here; a letter of recommendation from teacher/instructor/mentor is required.
iii. Selected applicants will then be invited to an interview held in-person at Senior Visit Day;
- Friday, October 25, 2024 – to participate in interviews on-campus on Saturday, November 16, 2024 or virtual interviews after November 18, 2024
- Friday, January 24, 2025- to participate in interviews on-campus on Saturday, February 15, 2025 or virtual interviews after February 17, 2025
Virtual interviews will be available on a case-by-case basis where a legitimate need is determined.
