Scholarship Summary:
Carthage awards two full-tuition per year Math/Science Scholarships each year to incoming domestic students. These scholarships are awarded to students who demonstrate ability in mathematics and natural sciences, and are renewable for four years.
Scholarship Applicant Criteria:
To apply for a math/science scholarship, candidates must
i. Intend to major in biology, chemistry, computer science, data science, environmental science, game development, geographic information science, geosciences, mathematics, neuroscience or physics. (A double major in another subject area is acceptable and can typically be completed in four years.)
ii. Demonstrate exceptional ability in mathematics and natural sciences
Value of Scholarship:
The Carthage Math/Science Scholarship covers the full cost of tuition annually.

• Submit an application for admission to Carthage and supporting materials (high school transcripts).
• Submit the Math/Science Scholarship Application
• Submit a one-page essay:
- Explain why you are interested in mathematics and/or natural sciences (this is part of the online scholarship application).
• The Math/Science faculty and the Office of Admissions will review your application and high school grades. Qualified applicants will be notified in early January. Successful candidates and their families will be invited to the Math/Science Scholarship Competition.
• The Math/Science Scholarship Program second-round takes place as a hybrid event (on-campus and remote options) on February 7, 2025.
- If selected to compete, candidates attending the event will take a comprehensive written examination, choosing four of the following six subject areas that assess their scientific literacy: biology, chemistry, computer science, geoscience, mathematics, and physics.
