Scholarship Summary:
Schulich Leader Scholarships are Canada’s most coveted undergraduate STEM scholarships. Up to one hundred scholarships are awarded to entrepreneurial-minded high school Canadian graduates enrolling in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Math program at 20 partner universities across Canada.
Scholarship Applicant Criteria:
The following are criteria for eligibility;
i. Graduating high school or Cegep in Canada in the 2024/2025 academic year
ii. Canadian citizen or permanent resident
iii. Plan to enroll in an eligible STEM program at one of the Canadian partner institutions
iv. Demonstrate the following criteria
a. Academic excellence
b. Leadership, charisma and creativity
Strong consideration will be given to applicants with financial need
v. Be entrepreneurial-minded and intend to pursue a career in one or more of the following focus areas;
a. Technology
b. Engineering
c. Entrepreneurship and business enterprise
d. Applied scientific research
Value of Scholarship:
The Schulich Leader Scholarships are valued as follows;
i. 50 awards valued at CAD$120,000 each, available for engineering courses
ii. 50 awards valued at CAD$100,000 each, available for science, technology or math courses
Scholarship Application Guide:
To apply;
i. Eligible applicants must be nominated by their high school guidance counselor by January 29, 2025; every high school in Canada can nominate one graduating student and Cegeps can nominate four.
The nomination form requires:
- Name and contact information of the school
- Name and contact information of the school’s nominee
All nominations are verified by the Schulich Leader Scholarships office.
ii. If nominated, you will receive an email from Schulich Leader Scholarships with the link to your online scholarship application.
iii. Universities select their Schulich Leader Scholarship recipients using their own rubric and adjudication committee
- Winners confirmed: March 7 – June 16, 2025
The online application includes;
a. Contact information for two referees who will upload reference letters in support of the nomination.
- Note: Once the Nominee submits the completed scholarship application, each referee will receive an email to an online reference request form.
- All letters of reference and scholarship applications must be completed and received by the February 19, 2025 deadline
b. The universities you wish to attend
c. Your top three achievements (academic or other)
- 50 words maximum per achievement
d. Short answer to convey their career aspirations 10 years from now
- 50 words maximum
e. Essay highlighting what you are passionate about
- 600 words maximum
f. Essay highlighting how you demonstrate an entrepreneurial-mindset (including leadership, charisma and creativity)
- 250 words maximum
g. Essay highlighting what makes you an ideal candidate for this award
- 250 words maximum
h. Optional essay to outline extenuating circumstances
- 250 words maximum
i. Copy of up-to-date transcript, credit counsel summary or detailed academic report
j. Headshot profile image for publicity
