Scholarship Summary: 
Each year, Shorter University awards a limited number of academic scholarships to incoming domestic freshmen students who have achieved the highest levels of academic excellence. The Shorter Scholars Program was created to ensure the continuation of the long standing tradition of academic excellence at Shorter University. The scholarships are based upon merit, leadership potential, and the ability to make a contribution to the Shorter University community.

Scholarship Applicant Criteria: 
To be eligible for this scholarship, applicants must obtain;
i. Minimum core academic grade point average of 3.50 (through first semester of senior year of high school) and a 1180 SAT (EBRW and Math) or 24 ACT, 
or 
ii. 3.75 (test optional year), 
or 
iii. Minimum 1310 SAT (EBRW and Math) or 28 ACT
 
A combination of the highest sub-scores can be used to meet the standardized score requirements. 

Value of Scholarship:  
The Shorter Scholars Award for freshmen range from 75% of tuition to full-tuition (inclusive of the HOPE or Zell Miller Scholarship, Institutional Aid, and the Georgia Tuition Equalization Grant for Georgia residents).

Students must have received an official acceptance from the Office of Admissions no later than January 20, 2023. 
The Shorter Scholars Program applications and supporting documentation should be completed and received by the same date to be eligible for an interview.

Subject: Shorter Scholars Program Application – Last Name, First Name
Once received, the Director of Admissions will assign an interview with the scholarship committee and the student will be given an essay topic with a submission date. The Scholarship Committee is comprised of Shorter University faculty, staff and administrators. Scholarship Committee will review the candidate’s application and academic credentials. 
Eligible candidates will be invited for an interview scheduled for Friday, February 3, 2023. 
Candidates should arrive 30 minutes prior to their interview time at the designated check-in location. Interview is approximately twenty minutes. Interview may be conducted virtually upon approval from the Director of Admissions.
Candidates that are offered the Presidential, Phi Theta Kappa or the Alfred Shorter/Provost Scholarship should be notified by February 10, 2023. Confirmation of Acceptance of the awarded Scholarship and the enrollment deposit must be received by the February 28, 2023.
