Scholarship Summary:
Established in 2021, and inspired by the University of Sydney’s ‘One Sydney, Many People’ strategy, the Faculty of Engineering One Sydney, Many People Scholarship has been generously funded by the Faculty of Engineering to encourage and empower Australian students from rural areas commencing an undergraduate degree by supporting equality of opportunity.
Scholarship Applicant Criteria:
You must:
• be a current school leaver
• qualify for an undergraduate program (including combined degrees) in the Faculty of Engineering
• be able to demonstrate one or more of the following:
• identify as a Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person
• financial hardship
• live in a rural, regional or remote area of Australia.
Value of Scholarship:
This scholarship is valued at AUD$15,000 per annum and is tenable for the normal duration of candidature up to a maximum value of AUD$60,000.
Scholarship Application Guide:
To apply;
a. Complete the online scholarship application form
b. The Scholarship will be awarded on the basis of:
I. academic merit based on the candidate’s performance in the NSW HSC or equivalent, and one or more of the following:
i. confirmation of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander identity as defined in the University of Sydney Confirmation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Identity Policy 2015,
ii. supporting documentation and a personal statement which provides evidence of financial need and any other relevant hardship, or
iii. supporting documentation which provides evidence that the applicant’s residential address is inner regional, outer regional, remote, or very remote as classified by the Australian Statistical Geography Standard Remoteness Classification.
c. In line with the University of Sydney’s One Sydney, Many People Strategy, preference will be given to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander students, then to financially disadvantaged students, then to students from an inner regional, outer regional, remote or very remote area of Australia.
d. The Scholarship will be awarded by the Associate Dean (Education) of the Faculty of Engineering, or their nominated delegates.
