Scholarship Summary: 
The highly prestigious Chair of the Board scholarship provides four new full-tuition awards to academically superior domestic students in each entering class. Recipients will have the distinctive opportunity to benefit from the challenging and rewarding academic programs Hood offers in a supportive and welcoming community with all tuition costs fully covered by the scholarship.

Scholarship Applicant Criteria:
There are no set criteria for consideration but successful candidates will have a record of outstanding academic achievement as well as accomplishments outside the classroom. 

It is also expected that recipients will have demonstrated talent, ability, academic achievement and motivation to compete for national and international recognition by the end of their undergraduate careers.

Value of Scholarship: 
The Chair of the Board Scholarship covers the full tuition cost and is renewable annually, up to four years, provided the recipient maintains a GPA of no less than 3.5 and makes satisfactory progress toward a bachelor’s degree.

Scholarship Application Guide: 
To apply;
i. All first-year students who have been accepted to Hood College by January 15 will be considered for this prestigious award.

ii. All successful candidates selected by the Board, will be invited to attend Scholars' Day in February, which will include a scholarship interview, meetings with faculty and current honors students, and lunch with the president and provost.

iii. Four Chair of the Board Scholars will be named within the two weeks following Scholars' Day, and all Scholars' Day attendees will receive $5,000 in additional scholarship funds as well as a stipend account of $2,000 that they may use following the end of their second year at Hood for research, study abroad or other related educational expenses.
