Scholarship Summary:
The Wells Scholars Program makes awards annually to 18–22 incoming first-year students (domestic and international) who have shown exceptional academic accomplishment and promise, fine character and leadership, significant involvement in extracurricular activities, concern for their communities, and interest in the larger world.
Scholarship Applicant Criteria:
In additional to a pattern of serious commitment to one or more activities outside of class, past successful nominees generally place in the top 5% by class rank, have a GPA of at least 3.9 out of 4.0, and (optionally) a 1430+ SAT score and/or 32+ ACT score.
Value of Scholarship:
The Wells Scholars Program provides tuition, academic fees, a living-expenses stipend, a summer experience grant, and support for overseas study.
Scholarship Application Guide:

i. Outstanding students interested in the Wells Scholars Program nomination and selection process must be nominated and submit all required materials by November 1.
- All high schools may nominate up to two seniors each year for consideration for the scholarship. Students not selected by their school or who otherwise wish to participate (i.e. homeschool, etc.) may self-nominate without the initial counselor endorsement during nomination season.
ii. December 13, 2024: Finalist Selection
A small number of finalists are selected for interviews. All nominees are notified of their status.
iii. February 14 - 16, 2025: Finalist Interviews
Finalists participate in video interviews with faculty and staff.
iv. Mid-Spring: Notification of Status
Around 16-18 Wells Scholars will be selected from the finalist group, and each finalist will receive notification of their status. Also, two International Wells Scholars will be selected from the finalist group.
v. May 1: Deadline for Acceptance
This is the deadline for students to accept or decline the offer of a place in the Wells Scholars Program.
