Scholarship Summary:
If you are a first-year student set to graduate from a high school in one of the five New York City boroughs, SUNY Plattsburgh may award you the Cardinal NYC Scholarship or Grant which will significantly help to reduce your costs.
Scholarship Applicant Criteria:
To be eligible for the Cardinal NYC Scholarship or Grant, you;
i. Must graduate from a high school in a New York City county: Bronx, Kings (Brooklyn), New York (Manhattan), Queens or Richmond (Staten Island).
ii. Must be a U.S. citizen, U.S. permanent resident, or other eligible non-citizen who pays the in-state tuition rate.
iii. Awarded to students with the highest combination of academic excellence and extracurricular achievement.
iv. Graduate from high school in June or January and be accepted for admission to SUNY Plattsburgh.
v. Pay a $250 deposit before beginning your first year.
vi. Attend full-time beginning in August or January, taking 12 or more credits.
vii. Live on campus.
viii. Applicants to our nursing program are not eligible for the Cardinal NYC Scholarship.
Value of Scholarship:
The SUNY Plattsburgh Cardinal Awards are valued as follows;
i. Cardinal NYC Scholarship: $3,500 per year ($1,750 per semester) Students must maintain a 3.25 cumulative grade point average in each fall or spring semester to which the scholarship applies.
ii. Cardinal NYC Grant: $1,500 for the first year of study only ($750 for each semester) {Awarded to NYC students who are not eligible for a NYC Scholarship and have financial need as calculated on their FAFSA}
Students may receive the awards for up to eight semesters of consecutive full-time study if the student remains a matriculated full-time undergraduate and continues to satisfy the EFC criteria.
