Scholarship Summary:
Reed seeks to make a college education affordable and accessible to all admitted students (domestic and international), regardless of family financial circumstances. Through the generous financial aid program, Reed meets 100 percent of full demonstrated need with various types of aid for all admitted students for all four years.
Scholarship Applicant Criteria:
To achieve equity and consistency in awarding institutional grants, Reed College uses the nationally standardized need analysis formula, Institutional Methodology (IM), developed by the College Board, to calculate your expected family contribution (EFC).

Reed’s financial aid package covers 100% of the demonstrated need of every admitted applicant.
Scholarship Application Guide:
Step One
Indicate on your Application for Admission that you intend to apply for financial aid. Applicants who indicate “no” to the “do you intend to apply for need-based financial aid” question on their admission application are not eligible to apply for financial aid at any time during their enrollment at Reed.
Step Two
Complete the CSS Profile application for the 2025-26 school year through the College Board. The CSS Profile is used to determine your eligibility for Reed's institutional funding. Reed's school code: 4654. If your biological parents are not married to each other, each parent will need to complete a separate CSS Profile. The 2025-26 CSS Profile is available beginning October 1, 2024.
- If you are a prospective international student for whom the cost of the CSS Profile would present a financial hardsh2025use the Reed College International Student Financial Aid Application (ISFAA) as an alternative application. This application is intended only for international students for whom the cost of the CSS Profile would be a financial hardship. Please email admission@reed.edu for ISFAA application instructions.
Step Three (domestic students only)
Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for school year 2025–26. The FAFSA determines your eligibility for federal student aid (Pell grants, Direct Loans, Federal Work Study, etc.). Reed's school code: 003217.
Step Four (domestic students only)
Submit documents through the College Board's IDOC (Institutional Documentation Service).
After completing the CSS Profile application, you will receive an email from College Board with instructions for accessing your IDOC portal. Follow the directions in the email to upload certain 2023 tax documents to their secure site.
