Scholarship Summary: 
Swarthmore College strives to make it possible for all admitted students to attend Swarthmore, regardless of their ability to pay, and meets 100 percent of determined need for all admitted students. Regardless of your citizenship, if Swarthmore admits you and you applied for financial aid, the College meets 100% of your institutionally determined financial need.

Please do note that admission to Swarthmore is need-aware for international citizens i.e. the financial need of an international applicant will play a major role in the Swarthmore admission decision.

Scholarship Applicant Criteria:
To be eligible for consideration, applicants must;
i. Be admitted for undergraduate study at Swarthmore; indicate your intent to apply for financial aid on your application for admission if you think you will need financial aid at any point in your four years at Swarthmore College.
ii. Demonstrate significant financial aid

Value of Scholarship: 
The Swarthmore need-based financial aid (also referred to as Swarthmore Scholarship grant) meets 100% of your institutionally determined financial need up to — and including — full annual tuition (with annual $750 book allowance), fees, room, board (meal plan), academic supplies, and personal expenses.

Scholarship Application Guide: 
The Swarthmore International financial aid process is as follows; 
1. Only admitted international students (who have indicated on their admission application that they will be applying for financial aid) need to complete a financial aid application.

    • All admitted international students will receive a CSS Profile fee waiver
    • The fee waiver code will be available on your financial aid checklist after admission 
    • Fee waiver codes will not be provided to international students before admissions decisions are released

3. Swarthmore College’s Financial Aid Office requires international applicants to submit electronic copies of the documentation that they will use to complete the CSS Profile via an upload process to a College-owned online portal. Prospective international students will upload their supplemental documentation to their financial aid checklist via their admissions application status page on the Admissions Office portal provided by the Admissions Office. All documents should be uploaded in PDF. These are the documents required;
    • Income documentation from countries that have an income reporting system.  Income must be reported and uploaded using the correct calendar year.
    • If official income documentation from your parents' countries in which they earn is not available, a letter from each parent’s employer with certified parent income documentation on employer letterhead. The income information must match the income information provided on the CSS Profile and must be authentic. Your parents may also submit this information in addition to their country's official income reporting documentation.
    • A completed and signed International Student Application for Financial Aid (ISAFA) [PDF]; this need only be completed by prospective applicants prior to admission.
