Newcastle University is offering the Opportunity Scholarship to eligible UK/EU domiciled undergraduate students on the basis of household income.. This scholarship has been designed to enable students from under-represented groups to progress to higher level study.

To be automatically considered for an Opportunity Scholarship, you need to meet the following criteria:
1. You are registered at the University
2. You have been income assessed by Student Finance England, Student Finance Wales, Student Finance Northern Ireland, or the Student Awards Agency for Scotland
3. Your household income has been evaluated as £35,000 or below and you and your parents have consented to share this information with the University
Value of Scholarship:
The Newcastle Undergraduate Opportunity Scholarship is awarded as follows;
a. If your household income is at or below £25,000 then you will receive a £2,000 per year bursary
b. If your household income is between £25,001 and £35,000 then you will receive a £1,000 per year bursary
Scholarship Application Guide:
You don't need to apply for this scholarship. The award will be automatically awarded to eligible UK and EU students based on their UCAS application and income assessed by Student Finance England or an equivalent assessment body.
- If you are eligible, you will receive an email from the Student Loans Company (SLC) directing you to your online Student Finance account to view your award letter. The email will be sent to the email address that you have listed with the SLC.
