Scholarship Summary:
In partnership with the British Council and the GREAT Britain Campaign, University of Birmingham is offering a scholarship to a postgraduate student from India and a student from Ghana applying for postgraduate courses in the College of Arts and Law (excluding Law LLM and MSc).
In addition, University of Birmingham is also offering one scholarship to a student in Nigeria applying for a postgraduate course at Birmingham Law School.
Scholarship Applicant Criteria:
For the GREAT Scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria;
- Apply for a postgraduate course in the College of Arts and Law and meet the academic conditions of their offer to the programme to retain the scholarship
- Be domiciled in India or Ghana
- Be classed by the University as an overseas fee payer for tuition fee purposes and be able to pay the outstanding tuition fees not covered by the scholarship
- Have sufficient funds to cover the full cost of living at the University of Birmingham, plus any visa/travel expenses associated with studying in the UK
- You must not be in receipt of any other scholarships or funding (University of Birmingham or external).
For the GREAT (LLM) Scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria;
- Apply for any of the LLM Programmes at the University of Birmingham Law School for September 2024 entry and meet the academic conditions of their offer to the programme to retain the scholarship
- Be domiciled in Nigeria
- Be classed by the University as an overseas fee payer for tuition fee purposes and be able to pay the outstanding tuition fees not covered by the scholarship
- Have sufficient funds to cover the full cost of living at the University of Birmingham, plus any visa/travel expenses associated with studying in the UK
- Must not be in receipt of any further scholarships or funding.
Value of Scholarship:
The GREAT Scholarships are £10,000 tuition fee discounts.

To apply for the scholarship,
1. Apply to study
Before applying to a College of Arts and Law Masters scholarship, you must have completed an application to study a relevant course at Birmingham. To make an application to study, please visit your chosen course's webpage and click the 'Apply now' button in the centre of the page.
2. Complete funding application
Once you have made an application to study, you will need to complete the relevant online scholarship application form and submit it by 4pm on 5 April 2024 for Masters scholarships.
3. Submit references
Your application must also be supported by two references. It is your responsibility to forward the link to both of your nominated referees and tell them that their references must be submitted via the online form by the application deadline.
