Scholarship Summary:
Wofford Scholars is the largest merit-based scholarship program at Wofford College. Each February, high school counselors are invited to submit nominations for the Wofford Scholars Program. Nomination forms for students (US citizens and permanent residents only) graduating in 2024 are now available.
Scholarship Applicant Criteria:
To qualify as a Wofford Scholar nominee,
i. A student should be ranked in the top 10 percent of the class and have achieved a combined score of 1300 (Critical Reading and Math) on the SAT/PSAT or a 28 on the ACT/PLAN.
ii. You must demonstrate leadership potential
If you meet the nomination criteria, then contact your high school counselor about getting nominated.
Value of Scholarship:
The Wofford Scholars Award is worth between $60,000 and $250,000 over a four-year period (i.e $15,000 - $62,500 per year).
Scholarship Application Guide:
To apply;
i. High School Counselors are to nominate eligible students in their schools and should fill Nomination forms for students graduating in 2024. You may submit your Class of 2024 student's information with this Nomination Form. If you would like to submit multiple students, you may use the bulk nomination spreadsheet (do not copy and paste into the spreadsheet, you must fill out each field individually).
Please complete the sheet and forward it to admission@wofford.edu as an excel file. Please nominate your qualified student by April 1 if you would like to receive a printable certificate template for your school's award ceremony. All nominations should be submitted by September 15. Any nominations after the deadline will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
ii. Nominated students should apply for admission and submit all application materials by the November 15 deadline.
Submit the following items for a complete application:
- The Common Application (including Secondary School Report Form)
- An official transcript
- A letter of recommendation
iii. Students are then selected and invited to Scholars Day to compete for a variety of scholarships, which will hold in November 2023 (registration to open in September).
- The interviews are conducted in a group setting. Typically, there are 4-5 scholars in a group being interviewed by a Wofford professor and other members of the Wofford community. The questions vary from group to group.
