Scholarship Summary:
JCU Higher Degree by Research (HDR) Scholarships for HDR candidates (Master of Philosophy, Doctor of Philosophy) are awarded annually on a competitive basis to the most outstanding applicants.
JCU offers a range of HDR scholarships for domestic and international applicants. Each of these scholarships is available to help support domestic and international candidates with living costs while dedicating themselves to a research degree at JCU.
Scholarship Applicant Criteria:
To be eligible for this scholarship, applicants must;
i. Demonstrate their English language proficiency by achieving a score at Band 2 level or better in a test such as IELTS, TOEFL or Pearson (PTE Academic) as detailed in the University’s English Language Requirements
ii. Have the minimum qualifications per HDR Requirements
iii. Be able to meet Conditions of Award
Value of Scholarship:
The JCU Higher Degree by Research (HDR) Scholarships are namely as follows;
i. International Research Training Program Scholarship: covers living allowance stipend AUD$33,500pa in 2023, overseas health cover, tuition fees. Its duration lasts for 3.5 years for PhD, 2 years for MPhil
ii. Postgraduate Research Scholarship for International students: covers living allowance stipend AUD$33,500pa in 2023, tuition fees. Its duration lasts for 3.5 years for PhD, 2 years for MPhil
iii. AIMS@JCU Scholarship for International, Australian and New Zealand students: covers living allowance stipend AUD$33,500pa in 2023, + $5,000pa as living allowance stipend or project expenses, tuition fees. Its duration lasts for 3.5 years for PhD, 2 years for MPhil
iv. Research Training Program Scholarship for Australian and New Zealand students: covers living allowance stipend AUD$33,500pa in 2023, tuition fees. Its duration lasts for 3.5 years for PhD, 2 years for MPhil
v. Indigenous Research Training Program Scholarship for Aboriginal and or Torres Strait Islander Australian and New Zealand students: covers living allowance stipend AUD$46,653p.a in 2023, + one off $10,000 for project expenses, tuition fees. Its duration lasts for 3.5 years for PhD
Scholarship Application Guide:
When applying for an HDR program, applicants will be considered for all applications for which they are eligible. Applications will be ranked as per the Scholarship Scoring Procedure.
