Scholarship Summary: 
The Madison Scholarship was established by Hampden-Sydney Alumni and Friends of the College (a men's only college) to honor one exceptional domestic student who has excelled in the classroom during his high school career and has made a positive impact on his community.

Scholarship Applicant Criteria: 
Typical candidates will have a: 
i. Critical Reading and Mathematics SAT score of 1450+, or an ACT composite score of 32+ 
ii. GPA of 4.0 or better, and Class rank in the top 5% (if reported) 
iii. In addition, Madison Scholars will be expected to have demonstrated outstanding leadership in their school or community through active involvement and leadership in clubs, school or civic organizations, publications, Scouting, church activities, or volunteer work.  

Value of Scholarship: 
The Madison Scholar will receive a grant that covers tuition, fees, room (double occupancy), and board for four years at Hampden-Sydney College. In addition, he will receive a stipend for books and a tablet, and funding for either a summer internship, or a study abroad opportunity. The Madison Scholar will also be a part of the prestigious Honors Program at the College. 

To retain the Madison Scholarship at Hampden-Sydney, the recipient must maintain a 3.3 gradepoint average throughout his time at the College.

Scholarship Application Guide: 
To apply;
i. Men interested in applying for the Madison Scholarship need only to complete their application for admission to Hampden-Sydney College by January 15. No additional applications or forms are required.  
ii. The Madison Scholar Selection Committee will invite five students to compete and interview on campus in March for the scholarship.
