Scholarship Summary:
Southwestern value the academic and extracurricular talents of high-achieving African-American, Hispanic/Latinx and Native American students and celebrate them with this competitive supplemental scholarship in honor of Bishop Ernest T. Dixon, an African-American Bishop of the United Methodist Church in the State of Texas.
Scholarship Applicant Criteria:
To be eligible for the Bishop Ernest T. Dixon Jr. Scholarship, applicants must;
i. Rank in the top 10% of their high school class or, if high school does not rank, have the equivalent of a 3.7 GPA on an unweighted 4.0 scale
ii. Demonstrate excellence in the classroom, extracurricular activities and within their greater educational community
Value of Scholarship:
The Southwestern University Bishop Ernest T. Dixon Jr. Scholarship amounts vary and are added to the General Merit Scholarships.
Scholarship Application Guide:
To apply;
i. Complete the admission application into Southwestern by the deadline.
ii. Selected candidates will be invited for a personal interview with a member of the admission staff and all candidates are to attend in order to advance further in the competition.
- All candidates must interview by the first Tuesday in February (4th February, 2025).
iii. Selected finalists must participate in the Southwestern scholarship event in March.
