Middlebury meets 100% of the demonstrated financial need of any freshman student admitted but please note that it is need-aware in its admission of international students. International students seeking financial assistance must apply for aid at the time of applying for admission to Middlebury, and by the deadlines indicated on the website.

Scholarship Applicant Criteria: 
To be eligible for international need-based aid, applicants must:
Be admitted for undergraduate study at Middlebury
Demonstrate significant financial need

Value of Scholarship: 
The Middlebury Freshman Need-Based Aid meets 100% of each recipient family’s calculated financial need. As a guide, for the Class of 2026, the average annual grant was $56,765.

Scholarship Application Guide: 
To be considered for financial aid, you first need to complete the required forms below by the set deadline;
i. CSS Profile
If you are a prospective student applying for financial aid, you are required to submit the CSS Profile listing Middlebury College (school code 3526). This application is used to determine your eligibility for need-based Middlebury College grant funding

ii. College Board Institutional Documentation Service (IDOC)
After you submit your CSS Profile, you may be required to provide additional documentation to the College Board’s IDOC Service, including institutional forms and relevant tax information. If you are required to submit documents via IDOC, you will be able to view the items missing on your dashboard and will be emailed by the College Board and Middlebury College.

iii. Completing the Process
After you receive your estimated financial aid offer, you will be required to follow the next steps to complete the financial aid application process. Middlebury verifies the financial aid application of every undergraduate student applying for aid prior to issuing your final financial aid offer.
International applicants must submit the following:
  • Generally, income information was provided during the first review of your file. If any additional information is needed, you will receive an email from the Financial Aid office.
