Scholarship Summary:
Rice University offers need-based financial aid to a limited number of international undergraduate applicants entering in the fall semester. Please note that Rice’s international need-based aid policy for both admission and financial aid is need aware and this means that an international student's financial need will be considered for both admission and financial aid. When the Committee for Admission evaluates such applications, the amount of financial aid a family might need is taken into consideration.
Scholarship Applicant Criteria:
To be eligible for Rice International Need-based Aid, applicants must;
i. Be international fee-paying students
ii. Be admitted into Rice University for undergraduate studies by Jan 4
iii. Demonstrate significant financial need
Value of Scholarship:
International students who receive need-based aid will have 100% of demonstrated need met with institutional grant aid.
Scholarship Application Guide:
To apply for International need-based aid,
i. Complete the 2025-26 CSS Profile
- School Code 6609
- Complete using 2023 income and tax information and current asset information.
- Custodial and non-custodial parent will each need to complete their respective profile for the student to be awarded aid.
ii. 2023 Non-Custodial Parent Tax Documents (if applicable)
iii. IDOC is only available for Domestic students. As an International student you will be uploading your parent and student tax documents via the applicant portal
- If you or your parents filed foreign taxes, upload those documents with an official translation to English.
- If you or your parents do not pay taxes, or your employer pays the taxes, please upload the income tax documents that verifies the income and taxes paid on your or your parent's behalf. If the documents are not in English, include an official translation.
- If you or your parents filed U.S. Taxes, please upload those instead.
- The International Student Financial Statement can be found on the Rice Admission Student Portal once the application is submitted.
